Last Thursday we had a guest, Keith Smith for our workshop, who is a CBRNC investigator as well as a specialist in fire investigations. I really enjoyed the talk Keith gave us on his job, the pros the cons, what he faces on a daily basis and how he got into this job.

I found out quite a lot of information whilst listening to him such as when you are at a crime scene you should look for DNA, clothes fibre, weapons, tools, ear prints, shoe prints etc.

To find a shoe print you use black gel or spray WD40 on the shoe then roll onto white paper, we tried both these after in the workshop. You use ultra violet light to find finger prints with an orange or green power so you can see it clearer.

It was a very interesting class and made me realise I really actually do enjoy learning about forensic photography and something that I may look further into for the future.
