I am trying to get as much inspiration for my photo film so I’ve been watching and look different war films, body of work etc to do with the war. This morning I have been watching clips from Platoon & Saving Private Ryan.

Following the Normandy Landings, a group of U.S. soldiers go behind enemy lines to retrieve a paratrooper whose brothers have been killed in action.

The first scene visuals from this movie are pretty amazing! I dont have as much video material as much as this but it has helped me with knowing what kind of sounds I need to use within my photo film as I am still finding it a bit hard to pick out sound to put with my stills and video.

I’ve been trying to get different sounds such as helicopters, war gun sounds, shouting etc that I can all include into my photo film in the right places. As well as ambient sounds I want to add voice overs but as I wanted to do some of my granddad I’m unsure if I can do this as I dont know if I can call him before hand in!

I used this for research in my phonar module but looking back at it now it has re inspired me to want to make an even better photo film with footage i have now filmed whilst being out here in portugal as well as images and sound recordings i have made. Now that I have plenty of sound recordings I feel that I can make an even more appealing and better photo film. Even if I dont end up making one I am still going to put together clips with sounds and images as doing phonar I learnt that this is a very effective way to present work, images with sounds comes across a lot better which makes the audience engaged with it.
